Renewable Energy
Utilising the resources of the group ability, UK Docks have the benefit of advanced production techniques as well as the technical know-how to compliment their comprehensive manufacturing facilities and services and provide an all-round impeccable service turning a vision into reality. The Neptune Proteus device, picture above, will be able to generate at least 1000 MWh/year. To put this into context, it would be enough to power 1000 homes.
Weighing 160 tonnes, 20 metres in length, with a beam of 14 metres, the tidal generator consists of a steel hull, vertically mounted turbine shutters and buoyancy chambers.
The flow control shutters and turbine rotor shaft arrangement have been manufactured and installed to the highest of tolerances, providing greater shaft torque and power outputs.
